Default 2 probe problems need help

The first is a 5 hr. probe of a old rifle , I notice an extra hole in the carving while trying to carve the rifle butt. I checked the pattern and found some markings near the butt of the rifle , it shows up on the pattern, is there any way to remove the blemish's from the pattern or is it another 5 hr. probe.

Second , we tried to probe a block as shown , after we set the upper and lower corners of the block with a 1/2" shim in place and verified the corners, then it said press 1 to scan. When 1 was press it moved over to the lower left hand side, but it went all the way down to the sled bottom ( we had removed the shim)and started moving.
I thought it was to stop a 1/2" for the sled and move on it's merry way. This happen twice.
I'm not sure was to do next. the block is a 1 3/4 " height. We don't want the probe to be that thick.
any help on both problems would be great.

On the gun stock pattern you should be able to clean it up in the pattern editor software.

On the block scan you have to set the scanning depth during the set up. arrow down to "set depth"

Since I did not create the probe pattern, I assume I can not edit it, is that correct?

If you scanned it with the Carvewright the pattern belongs to you.

If you are both using the same version of the software, the MPW file (i.e., the raw scan file) should be editable by either one of you.

    Perry,
On the MPC itself you can just add a rectangle at that "hole" and give it a zero depth. Seems like the easiest solution. Sending you the MPC by e-mail.

ID:	70813 You can scan a small area and erase around it. Or just erase the scan for a small area and save as a patch.
    thanks so much!

Thanks Bruce for the help, it has been a very long time since I used the probe.
Michael T, something created in 3.0 can someone with 2.0 read the project?
    thanks for all the replies.

    Hi Perry,

Only PTN files are backward compatible from ver. 3 to ver. 2 and lower. Keep in mind a PTN file cannot be edited by anyone other than the original creator of the pattern. However, all PTN's can be carved, regardless of what version a person owns.

Now, if YOU own ver. 3 and so does your partner (Bruce, I guess?), then you guys can exchange MPW files and either one of you can edit those, since there is no copy-protection encoding and the MPW is being used on the same ver. 3 software. Again, you BOTH need to be using the ver. 3 software, as MPW files are NOT backward compatible from ver. 3 to earlier versions.

So, if you have ver. 2 (or earlier) and Bruce sends you a MPW file he made in ver. 3, you cannot do anything with it. However, if Bruce sends you a PTN, you can carve it (but not edit it).

Many thanks for that clarification Michael. That will certainly help me in both working with and sharing designs as well as advising others, without passing along bum dope. A bow toward the SouthEast to the Master. We are not worthy, we are not worthy. Seriously thanks as always.
