Designer crashed on me as well when trying to load the mpc on Vista and Version 1.134.
I am trying to load that file now on my laptop to insure I use the same font and it is still trying to load after 10 minutes. I am not sure what happened, but now on my desktop I lost my c drive after the designer froze up trying to compile the project. Man what a day. Now I ahve to work on my computer too.

It might be Centerline, If I create the sign FATMAN'S in raster it saves quickly and opens a lot quicker. I just opened it and edited text and changed it to centerline and guess what, it is still trying to save and I got the not responding message again. SO I guess I will not use centerline, and that sucks, I paid ll that money and I cannot use it. I will just use raster , I have to get this sign done. Over 5 minutes and still trying to save.

granted its a simple project however its still allot of information Designer is banging out. My drive is working a little in the background swap drive? when loading so try cranking up preferences to 256 and turn OpenGL to "Auto"
also check your license and update it the next time you start Designer.
The file should load in under 60 secs as a time check.

I would give Carvewright Software Support Team a call they may be able to resolve the problem. If you paid for Center-line text you should be able to use it.

press 3 for software / activation code
press 4 for repairs
press 5 for other help
Under "edit" menu, select preference and open up the 3D graphics tab.
try changing the default memory settings from 16 megs to 256 megs and check to see the hardware acceleration is set to "auto"
not sure if changing the setting will work anyway.
you could need to do a un install and a fresh install to fix it.

I must bow to LG. The file(s) do open, if you wait long enough. The "Not Working" message, in Task Manager, is a false message.
When I waited I found that the text is huge in a 10" board (no big thing).
It is , also, a 2 sided carve of the same text which doubles the the load time.
My observation though, is that you will need a sled since the lettering goes all the way to the edge.
You may, still, get warnings and questions about re-sizing.
I have an idea that may work as well:
1) Remove the carve on the back.
2) You must use a sled with the large letters (No big deal). You just need support for the rollers and the brass wheel.
3) When you set up to carve the back, "Flip" the board "End to End" rather than "Top to Bottom".
(Write it out on paper and check me out!) It will work!
4) This may cut down the load time and potential roadblock(s).
5) Yes, I know, you will need to re-load the project and go through the bit checks and measure process!
See if this makes a difference.
