I can certainly see where these would make great craft show items, birthday gifts, or just something special for your guy.
nice work!
Did you cut the wood they are carved from? They all look identical in size and shape. That made the job go easier with size and shape all the same. I really like the rustic look the bark around the wood gives.

Ring Neck Blues DC Insert (outstanding job keeping machine clean!), HF DC blower
Designer 3.102, Pattern Editor, Pattern Sculptor, STL Importer, Scanning Probe, 2D Vector Drawing Suite, 3D Pattern Modeling Suite, Centerline text, Conforming Vectors, CarveTight Chuck, Decorative Bit set
Universal Laser ILS series laser engraver with dual laser cartridges 135 watts total with 24" x 48" table and Class 4 module
The log slices are a pattern that has been passed around. I have a oval, a around one with and without rings, they come in handed every once in while. The wood is Alder( poor mans cherry).

so the "bark" is not real, but carved out and painted/stained dark to look like bark. Oh . That explains how they all look the same size and shape.....
I thought they were carved from the plaques with the bark on them that you can buy were trees are cut on a angle. That's why I ask about them. I've never saw that many that were exactly the same before.
Feel somewhat silly now - never thought about carving them that way.

Don't feel bad, I am trying to deal with a guy that sells real log slices so I can carve on the real thing.
the process is long and drawn out and I am still waiting for him to back with me, but you use what you can get your hands on.
