Log Carving

Has anyone carved the flat side of a log round on the Carvewright machine? If so how was the Carvewright machine initialized and set up ie. in a sled, measure piece, center carving ect.? If not, how would one set up the machine?

In a sled, rails as tall as the log, masking tape across the ends, jog to touch the log surface, then jog to position (edge or center).
