My friend at work wants me to try to take the stock of his gun and and make him a solid custom stock. Has anyone ever scanned a gun stock and made one like this? Looking for pointers before I start.

The stock it self should be easy, but getting the mounting right could be a pain without the right tools. I'd have him pull it off and see how it hooks up first, some are simple, others have parts of the firing mechanism inside the neck.
I knew I had seen this http://forum.carvewright.com/showthr...173-Gun-stocks

He is going to give me the gun to take apart to see what I'm getting into. Just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone has tried it yet. The thread is mostly of carving a pattern of a gun that someone had scanned not the stock itself. I had seen that as well. Mice carving of the shotgun though.

Question, what about making a jig out of pink foam to support the stock level?
