Thread: Max cut depth

    Default Max cut depth

I have a project carving at the moment in a 1" thick board. During the measure and checking bits stage of loading the project, i loaded the 1/8th cutting bit, the machine measured and said it ws too thick to cut. I selected continue figuring i would just stop the project before the cutting bit phase of things. My question is what is the maximum board thickness you can have for a cut path? Will the machine cut through 1"?

You should be able to do a 1 inch cut path with a 1/8th bit. I do.

Per the CW Manual - The maximum cut depth as stated in this Manual is 1" for the straight 1/8" cutting bit.

But you would need to do it using the multi pass option or risk breaking your bit.

it measured your board a little thicker than 1 inch. But it will cut through a 1" board. I get the same thing every time I use my sled. But it will cut the thickness of the board in designer.

You may need to calibrate your board thickness. It thinks the board is more than 1 inch thick. (Does it ask any question?)
