Found a 3D image on grabcad.com of a rifle stock--used Rhino3D to convert to STL. Can someone convert the STL to a Carvewright software file, or is that against the terms of service? I don't own the STL converter/importer myself, so I wouldn't know.

Just a noob trying to learn--thanks for all the guidance!

edit: Tried uploading the STL but it's too large at ~23 MB. Back to the drawing board, so to speak.

edit: See post #38 for IGS file (3D image I started with.)

Will it zip? or upload it to a file sharing site (mediafire.com) and post a link

I imported it but it does not look like a gun stock to me..

    Screen capture of the import.

Always happy to be claimed! I do my best to give cnsranch a hard time--easy since he's my "Pa!"

I figure if we ever get this rifle stock carving thing worked out, we could take them and your innovative "buggy signs" to the wood shows and literally be hundredaires by Christmas!

I can see the swanky evening soirees now--except instead of Champagne and caviar, we'll be serving homebrew and pond-raised catfish!
