    Default I'm Happy

Fired up my CC (which is going on 4 years old) today after a long winters nap. Lubed the flex shaft, loaded the card with version 1.164 and my carving. installed 1/2" thick mahogany in the machine and fired it up. During the board measurement it displayed a width of 5.461" and I specified 5.5" in designer. It asked if I wanted to reduce the scale. A quick calc makes it less than 1% of my original size. I gave it the go-ahead. During the 6 hour carve I kept checking the temperature of the flex shaft and the Z truck. The max temperature settled to comfortable 91 degrees. This I attribute to the ROCK chuck. After the carve I micked the width of my board, just to check the accuracy of the machine dimension. It was spot on.

Default How do you do that

Hank just for my info. How did you determine the temp of the truck?
Is there some kind of device to do that other than your finger.

BJ - I use the one on the right - works great.

Tech at LHR told me long time ago that the truck can get as hot as 120 degrees before getting worried...

So far (knock on wood) there isn't anything that gets hot, let alone warm on my machine. I don't over lube the flex shaft and keep things very clean. I just hope this helps any of these problems stay away.
