    Started the finishing process today. I will post a photo after the varnish is dry.

    Finished the varnish applaction today. I have to wait a few days to let the varnish harden before reassembly.

    Default One done 5 to go

    Here is the finished fiddle. The back sides and neck are made out of Rosewood salvaged from the old Chicago theater. The top and the finger board are made from pine. Black paint was applied to the fingerboard and string nut. The tailpiece and pegs are made from ebony. The instrument measures 12.5 inches long. The build log for this project is located here;

    Carl,

    Great job! You did an outstanding job on the the finished fiddle. All it needs now is just a bit of chin oil on it!!

    The build log pretty much explains how I did everything to make it work. It took 2 hrs just to set the sound post. I think with a pattern this is well withen the skill levels I see displayed on this forum every day. Oh I forgot to tell you it sounds pretty good for its size.
