Default Carving a box around a picture

I'm trying to carve a box around a picture I'm making. I have a carve region I'm working in and I have some text above and below the picture. What I'm trying to do is carve this box around the picture to offset it from the words. I've tried to use the rectangle tool to set up the box and then choose a bit to perform the task but it doesn't show up on the pattern. Is there a better way or am I not even doing this task correctly.

    Thanks Doug

    Hi Doug,

    Something like this?

I normally let Designer use the default 1/16" tapered carving bit carve the carve region.

No I just want a line all the way around the picture. It's already in a carve region and is recessed. I don't want to have a second carve region around the picture, just a line around it.

Here's what I'm trying to do. I want to just carve a box where the white lines are. Kind of making a frame inside a carve region.

When you assign the bit to the path you have to set the depth a little deeper than the carve region. So if you want a 1/8" deep line around the picture and it's in a 1/4" deep carve region you must set the path depth to 3/8" or .375

Thank you for that information. I can atleast see the carve line now. Is it possible to use the carving bit on this? When I go to select the bit it is not an option.

So the 1/16" bullnose is the same as the carving bit?
