Default can someone tell me why this happened

I check the head pressure every time I start a project so that was fine. This isn;t the first time this has happened either.

I hope someone can tell me why so I can make it stop.

I couldn't get the pic to upload here so here's the direct link, just copy and paste.

    PLEASE HELP.

I would suspect that your board is cupped or has a defect on the edge that was on the bottom/keypad side. That will not let the board tracking sensor read the board properly. Another thing to look for is a damaged o-ring on the sensor.

We checked the board before we put it in and had it planed so we are confident it wasn't that. Also we just got it back from carvewright for repairs... it ran the other 4 boards fine.

*sigh* I just don't understand... we are about to run this design again and to be safe I reformated the card to clear it off and there was an error "back roller" not sure what that's about, any ideas before we start it up again.

Hubby says it's the sand paper rolling but like I said they were supposed to have fixed that at the shop and we always check the head pressure before we run any board.

Well, it seems that it is related to the board feeding through the machine so let's look at all the stuff related to board feeding. You just got the machine back, which means it was shipped. Have you checked to see that the head (part you crank up/down) is level? Do the sandpaper belts look OK (not rolled up on the edge?)? Was your board at least 1/2" thick? Did you adjust your out-feed rollers properly? Did you keep the board under the rollers at all times (i.e. was your 'real' board 7" longer than you layout in Designer?) Was your stock really long/heavy where extra support rollers should have been used?

That's all I can thin of off the top of my head. Hope it helps...

I originally thought it was due to the board getting hung up - edges not parallel - but it looks like the opposite - what could cause the feed to advance the board in one big jump, Jeff?

Almost like the bit was raised, the board advanced, then started carving again. If it was simply a slip, there wouldn't be such a clear delineation.

ok we checked everything you suggested Jeff and here's the thing... it was the sand paper moving.... now how do we stop this from happening in the middle of a project???

It has happened before and that was one of the complaints and repairs that were do on it at the ware house so what is the problem?? is there something we can do or should we send it back?

    Tomkattogther,

The main cause of sandpaper roll-ups is low head pressure. If you machine head pressure is lower than 75 pounds, the sandpaper belts will start to roll up. The ideal head pressure should be between 75 and 85 pounds. Check you pressure again to verify.

Thanks for the input but we always check the head pressure before starting each board and it seems to happen to the middle or end of the cutting... the pic here is the last part of the project at about 75% finished.....

can the head pressure change DURING a project????

The head pressure isn't supposed to change, but there have been a few instances in which the head can travel during carving. Also, you stated that you were getting a stuck roller message? A stuck roller can cause issues with the machine feeding the board correctly. I looked at the photo and it looks like a tracking issue. The machine skipped quite a bit on the x-axis.
