Thread: Inset tool

  1. #1

    Default Inset tool

I'm using an 1/8" bit to hollow out lettering. I want the bit to cut on the inside of the line. I place the lettering on my work piece, outline it then set the inset at 1/16". Is that the right way to do it? It doesnt seem to be any different than if I dont use the inset.

The inset will only inset the bit for outlining the letter. If you want to "hollow out " everything inside the letter, you will have to ,"outline" then make it a carve region useing the carving bit.

A $200.00 way to do it is with the DFX Add on and Corel Draw like shown in the Video Tips and Tricks my MT. That is on my wish list.

I have been able to hollow the lettering out. So your saying that the inset only works for outlining?

If the figure is "closed" the Bit selection screen will most likely include the "Inset" option.

Al, you can also do that the old fashion way with the ai2mpc program, The CW DXF program looks like a great program. I can’t afford that program also.
