Default Raster to Vector Conversion Utility

For anyone in need of such this kind of resource, here is a website that will convert your raster format images to vector format files:

    http://vectormagic.stanford.edu/

It's free, and seems to work for most of the common file types. I can't vouch for results yet, but I plan to try it out soon.

    Default That's a Great Site!

---Right on, Jeff! That tip about the VectorMagic site is very cool!
---I don't know if anyone else uses Illustrator very much or not but I've just started using this software this morning and I've been doing some cool stuff already. I've just been creating my vector shapes cleanly, export out as a jpeg, and import into the software as an image. So far I'm really enjoying this software, now I have to actually make something!
---I was interested to find out if I can use my 3D software to create a model that will import into this software? A plug-in would be easy to make if someone were knowledgeable and so inclined.

    Default the converter is great

I just tried it and I am very impressed on how it can convert both a photo and marginal graphics into clean carvable/printable images.

    Jeff,
Although I'm not a fan of having it tied to being on the Internet, it does more than decent Tracing. I took an old Alberto Vargas raster image and made it into a PNG and I've posted the difference from it's raster image here. The image on the left is the JPG raster. The one on the right is the vectorized version of it (but shown as a raster here) PNG image.
