    Question Picture Hanging Slot?

This maybe a dumb question but I have trying to figure out how to make a picture hanging slot on the back of any project thats wall hung. I'm sure it's simple but I must be having a brain tumor or something.

There is a bit you can buy that will accomplish what you want to do. However, You would have to use your router to make this slot.

    Default Hanging Slot

    RanUtah,

Here's a photo of the router bit Robbie was speaking of, I use them in my hand or table routes, they work fine. "But not in your CC or CW machine"
The other photo is of Metal hanger slots you can add to or recess in to the back of your project,
these are much stronger plus the recess can be carved with your machine,
they'er both available at most wood working stores like Rockler and Wood craft stores.
They're often referred to as key hole bits and key hole hangers.

The router bit you want is called a key hole cutter and they usually cost <$10.

    Default Thanks guys!

I did a search and not only found the bit but also the template. Just wish the carvewright could perform this task.

Go carbide tipped a HSS will smoke real soon, I was using MDF and chip board so that is really rough on HSS bits.
