I think it might be hard to imagine a life as "different" as I (and others) have had. In reality, we all walk a different path, I guess that is what I wanted to say all along. I am able to do and understand from where I am - its just a little different.
    Ken,
I'm throughly impressed and humbled with both your attitude and your work. You are an inspiration!! Keep up the incredible work. I look forward to seeing more pics of you projects.

    Default Christmas 2008 projects

I finally finished Allie's mirror, so I'll post the three Christmas projects.

I had to do the sleigh for my wife, and I posted Katie's horse frame before.

Yesterday I posted the nice piece of purple heart that I bought, here is the gift that I bought it for. Allie's favorite colors are purple and pink - so when I first saw the purple heart, I knew I had to come up with a gift made of it.

The letter A, on the mirror, and the strip of wood under the name are inset into the side frame and can move up as the wood shrinks (in case anyone was wondering).

The jewlery box is very similar to Britt Yenne's and the oak house number is similar to another design that was posted.
The jewlery box, with legs and writing on the bottom, is cherry with 8 applications of oil/poly/thinner. I also faintly included my initials and year on the back.
It seems as though I was casting a shadow on the right sides of the box.
    Way to go Doc.

    Default Stuff

I thank you for the kind words, but that was what I was hoping for when posting

That purple heart is beautiful to work with, but leaves dark tracks out of my shop. I hadn't realized it was "curly" until I routed the edges and had a little tear-out.

Somebody needs to tell me how to use a rattle-can of Polycrylic because it sure did not work like the other spray cans I've used.

Wow Doc! Unbelievable projects. You are one of the many MASTERS on this forum that inspire me. Keep up the great work and keep the projects coming. Hmmm decision time out on the ice for some fishing or time in the shop designing.
    Thanks for posting.
