    Default Sensor

Hi, I've only been using the Carvewright for about a week and a half and I'm all ready having trouble. There seems to be a sensor error that keeps coming up before I can carve. It keeps saying to check it and so I clean it (paper towel, compressed air, ect.) and yet it still gives me the same thing.

I looked at the manual and tried what it says to do (go into options and check it) but no matter what I do it gives me the number zero rather than the expected numbers.

    Please help soon.

    Default Welcome

It could be your wood is just TOO dark.... Try covering the wood with blue or white masking tape. Some woods won't work without it.

    Good Luck,

It's not that it's too dark, it's the same color as all the other wood that we've been carving. It's just that the sensor doesn't seem to read anything.

It shows up just before it cuts anything. When it's supposed to measure (after loading the board) it moves to measure it but then stops and says:

    Measuring board...
    Clear board sensor.

Now like I said I've cleaned it, but that doesn't help.

When you enter the sensor test menu the first screen has the cover switch test on it, does that work? If that works then the cable running down to the board sensor is probably OK. The board sensor cable can become pinched and shorted to the machine frame causing all sensors to not work properly.

IF your other sensors seem to work it is possible that the board sensor has failed, some other folks have had this problem too. Give CW tech support a call and htye will probably have you check a few other thigns too, if they determin the sensor has fialed they will send you a new one, they are very easy to change.

    Default Checking the board sensor

If you want to check one more thing, you could crank the head up, turn the power on, press 0, then press 7, then press down arrow 2 times to get to the board sensor reading. It should be zero with nothing under it. If you place a piece of paper under it, the closer you get to the sensor, the higher the reading will be on the LED readout. If you get no change then either you dont know where the sensor is (it is right below the spindle) <-- a little humor there, or it has died. Provided there is not a pinched, or disconnected wire issue.

I would give that a try at least

The options menu shows every thing else is working, I called tech support but had to hang up so I could go to my house to get a shorter screw driver. And now they're busy so I have to wait for them to return my call.

Also try a different board first too , it could be warped or have a notch out of the edge where the sencor is .
