Thread: 2-sided carve in slicer

  1. Default 2-sided carve in slicer

    Hi Everyone,
Recently got myself the slicer add on and am exploring cutting and gluing 3D STL's. When you select a slice as 2-sided carve while importing, do you print them all on the same side and their thicknesses are already halved, or do you actually place them on opposite sides of your board? When placing them on opposite sides it looks pretty funky, but on the same side the pieces look too think. Anyone work this out already before I burn through a bunch of test pieces to work it out?

You can do it either way. Depends on the model, size of the model, and lumber thickness. I've used both methods.

Glad to see you're still around Oscar, still in self imposed no carving status here. Not because of the carves but the dust from cleanups. Doc has ordered tests but the labs are so backed up some are scheduled early December. Am starting to get the itch real bad and hear the machines calling at night.

Hope they figure out what's going on with you and fix you up so you can start making sawdust again. Well wishes everything goes well and they find only minor things.

@Snacks, I've used the slicer for up to 4 layers carved into one board. When I glued them up they did require a bit of sanding. Not perfect but it did work.

I hope you are doing better soon What2be. I would have to figure out a work around, but then again I don't put a lot a faith in Doctors these days. Remember they are just practicing.

Thx Mugs, good to hear from you. I agree with you and have done a variety of self-medicating. It's like getting in sight of the finish but never quite reaching it. My next thought is wearing my chemical grade face mask when cutting or sanding along with running the room air filter. Guess I've just been hoping for the magic pill like everyone else. When I see the commercials for the CPAP devices it reminds me of how much I hate the big mask. It just doesn't have the hoses.
