It can be used for that. It can also be used to clean up patterns that are brought into designer.

I just read Designer 3-4 can create background textures natively. I use Designer 2 so no idea how its done.

    Really?! That's cool.
Do you have a link to where you read that?

Speaking of Background, I was just rewatching Ken's video tutorial and taking notes... but I never saw if he turned off Feather or turned on Draft for the background rectangle.
    Any clue?

The default in Designer 2 is no feather or draft. They can be added though if needed. Again don't have 3 or 4 to look at.

    Hey Oscar,

I tried carving two comfort birds on my rotary axis jig (finally), and I got about 3/4 through and the bit broke. Turns out I installed the 1/16 long carving bit instead of the 1/8 carving bit.... That was an expensive mistake ($90!). But I now I know it can be done, just have to use the RIGHT bit this time. I have it on order, just takes a while to get here. (Not sure why it takes so long... must be the anticipation making a couple days seem like a month. HA!)
I gotta ask though, can you make the breast of this bird a bit more round? It's a little more narrow than I usually make these.
Also can you make the tail a bit thicker?
    Thanks for any help!

I tweaked it but I don't have the rotary jig so no clue if I made it better or worse. The top bird is the tweaked version.

Thanks Oscar! I'll let you know how it turns out.
I should have posted pix of the first ones. I've finished that carve by hand, then sanded and put some finish on.

I've got this model in the STL importer now.
    It looks great!

The first time I broke off a $90 bit because I had set up the project with a 1/8 bit, and loaded the 1/16 bit instead. That got about 3/4 of the way through the carve. I finished the two birds by hand. I didn't get good pix of those yet. I'm still putting finish on.
See the first pic with the bit broken off. I'll post pix of the finished birds from that attempt later.
