I am trying to replace the traction belts after one broke. I cannot get one side to line up to compress. The post is not lining up with the hole.
Any suggestions????

Another day above ground is better that the alternative.
Not sure how you're compressing the unit. I happen to have a 6 " woodworkers vise and I centered mine in it and compressed both ends at the same time and pinned it with out any problem. Don't know anything else to mention, hope you figure it out.

Only did that a few times, but I would have to agree that the unit has to be compressed somewhat evenly. If not I would think the side that lags would wedge in the tube, making it very hard to move if at all. I also used a vice, but think that a ratchet strap would also work for this job if a large enough vise is not available.
Thanks to all for the hints. Mugsowner suggested ratchet straps. So I took a trip to my favorite toy store (Harbor Freight) and got to 1 inch ratchet clamps. Worked like a charm.
Thanks again for the help
