If you're curious about how the scanning probe works, here are some photos from a scan that I just did for my Ford Bronco "woody" golf cart project.

This is a Ford Bronco emblem mounted in one of my sleds, ready for scanning.

This is the raw scan. The scan area is about 3" x 4.5" x .5" thick. The scan with best quality took about an hour.

The Pattern Editor De-Noise Filter applied at max setting cleaned quite a bit up.

The pattern was lowered in Pattern Editor to eliminate the background. A bit of Smooth Filter applied, a bit of Trim Edges Filter, and finally Round Edges Filter to complete the pattern.
