Carving only part of an oval

I used an oval to get the correct curve for a project. However, the machine during the carve will carve a straight line on the edge and at the end of the board for the part of the oval that isn't on the board. See attached jpg. The red line indicates the carve that happens. It's about a 1/16" in on the board. Any suggestions on how to fix this? I really don't want to do a line with a bunch of points to do the bend. It'll never be a smooth curve.
