    Obituary for Kenneth D. Johnson

JOHNSON, Kenneth D., age 81, Waynesville and formerly of Mason, passed away Friday, March 6, 2020 at his residence. Ken was born May 24, 1938 to Wray and Marcella Johnson in Buffalo, NY. He served in the National Guard shortly after high school.

When Ken was a younger man, he worked in the construction industry as an iron worker for his father and Southwest Sash. After his injury, he went back to school and earned a PHD in Philosophy, working as a counselor for several years. He also owned his own company, Kendata, for some time. With a strong desire to get off of disability, Ken worked a year without pay at Warren County Data Processing in order to learn the programming and earn the credentials for full time work, ultimately retiring after 24 years of service to the county.

Very intelligent, strong-willed, and quick-witted, Ken had a huge personality and a great sense of humor. He was quite skilled with a CarveWright machine and loved woodworking. He became quite crafty working with one hand. With his eye for craftsmanship, he designed and built three of the houses that he lived in over the years. He was always reading and learning, mostly textbooks and information regarding education, reincarnation, and life. As a believer in reincarnation, he studied reincarnation and was an assistant archivist and moderator for Carol Bowman’s Past Life Forum on the internet.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Jackie Spicer. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Susan; three daughters Kimberly Johnson, Terri (Rick) Stigers, and Renee (Shane) Townsend; step daughter Krystal Kerr (Chris) Asher; seven grandchildren Kristofer Hall, Allie (Noah) Shumaker, Jordan Hall (Jeremy England), Katie Stigers, Zachery Stigers, Winnifred Asher, and Robert Asher; and five great grandchildren Jaiden, Jovie, Peyton, Izzy, and Shay.

A celebration of life service will be held 11 AM Saturday, March 14 at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home in Waynesville. Chip Ashley will be leading Ken's celebration of life service. The family will receive friends 9 AM - 11 AM Saturday at the funeral home. If desired, contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice. Condolences at www.stubbsconner.com.
