    Default Air carving

To show how long it's been since I've had problems with my machines I can not remember what the problems are that would make the machine air carve a pattern. Last pattern carved fine but on this one the bit does not touch the top of the board. Any suggestions on what the problem could be or what previous thread dealt with the problems would be greatly appreciated. SharonB

Is the bit touching off correctly on the bit plate and the top of the board surface?

Floyd, yes it is touching off bit plate and board surface correctly. Thought I would check the decoder and head pressure tomorrow afternoon. Will post again if and when I find out something.

Before you change anything if it was me I would carve the very same board again. Since it did not cut deep enough.

    I would pay attention to:

    1. Be sure the bit is tight enough and not sliding inside the chuck.

    2. Then watch carefully the bit touch. At the Bit Place.

    3. Then watch carefully the bit touch on the board.

In both cases of 2 and 3 the machine is monitoring the Z Current. IF the machine hits a lump of sawdust on roller rails it can mistake that lump as the bit touching the bit plate or board.

    4. Let the board cut if both are touching properly.

    5. Only after another fail then Suspect the FFC Cable is BAD and Missing Pulses of the Encoder OR Missing some power to the Servo Motor.

    6. Only after that check the Encoder for dust or a loose clear disk.

    Good Luck,
