Thread: ISSUE loading proper bit.

  1. Lightbulb ISSUE loading proper bit.

I have a designed I made see attached. The machine will first have me load a 90 carve right bit then the machine will ask me to load a 1/16 bit. The machine will not recognize the bit and keeps telling me to load a 1/16 bit. I do have the sign cutting package. I successfully carved a sign with the first file. I then added the centerline to the text carvings. it was at this point my problems began with the bit issue. I have attached the file and asking for help

Is the bit plate popping out all of the way for the 1/16" carving bit to touch off on the bit plate?

Correct as posted above, when the machine keeps asking for the same bit it is because the head went down to touch the bit plate and the head went further down than expected. As in the bit plate did not come out far enough so the bit missed it... Wires for the right side cut motor safety switch are usually the problem.. They get in the way and the Z Servo hits the wires not letting the Y get far enough to push out the bit plate.

Everyone should be in the habit of watching the bit touch. Dirty Rails can cause the V90 to hit a sawdust speed bump and think it hit the plate and make a AIR CARVE of the text.

TWO touches of the bit plate are normal THREE are a WARNING.... Something is WRONG....

KNOW your machine.... Watch what it does during the setup phase. Once it starts carving other than a bad Y Gearbox or the Board loosing touch with the Brass Roller and moving in X you normally don't have a problem... Unless your FFC Cable is going bad...

Favorite Saying.... "It's ALL About the Brass Roller"..... And "Use MASKING TAPE" for board skipping in the X or breaking bits.
