    Default My take on the text-on-text plaque

    No painting. First carve a 1/4" deep area into 3/4" base wood, oak in this case, to match the size of the text. Next glue in the first layer of contrasting wood, 1/8" black walnut in this case. Then the top layer, 1/8" hickory IIRC. Carve.
    This was a gift for friends in England, hence the format of the date.

    I like your process. Certainly made an impressive plaque!!! Looking forward to trying this in the near future. Superior results compared to painting. Thanks for sharing your creative work!!

    Nice work and I really like the stacked wood look. I think that is a bit of thinking outside the box.

    Love the product, your thinking outside the box obviously made a beautiful end result. Think this process is definitely worth duplicating.
