Hello,
This cute little Piantbrush Clock is a natural for hanging on a wall in your craft room or workshop space, but it surely makes an interesting and unique addition to any other room decor! It’s also ideal for a fun and quick weekend project! The project uses just the 1/16" Carving Bit and the 1/8" Cutting Bit. No other bits are required. The finished dimensions are about 4" wide x 14.7” tall x 0.75" thick.
Main items you will need:
1) The Project Files (included):
• Paintbrush_Clock.mpc
2) Board with the following dimensions: 0.75" x 7" x 23"
NOTE: Do not use boards that are smaller than specified above unless using an appropriate jig. Larger boards are fine.
3) Klockit 2.5" round clock insert (mounting hole is 2.25"). I used model #15686 from www.klockit.com
4) Sandpaper, stain and/or paint and clear finish
5) A Dremel-type rotary tool with assorted sanding wheels and bits to sand small details. A spindle sander and small belt sander are also handy to speed up preparation for finishing.
Apply the finish of your choice.
Here’s what I used for the sample made from Select Pine:
• Applied three coats thinned Bulls Eye SealCoat (50/50 SealCoat and denatured alcohol). Sanded with 320-grit between coats.
• Painted the brush ferrule with silver metallic paint
• Applied thinned brown craft paint to the bristles as a glaze (brush on-wipe off) to accent the bristle detail
• Several light coats Krylon Clear Gloss spray, then a final light coat of Krylon Clear Satin spray
