I would hate to use it as a cutting board. It would hang on my wall.

Yep, that's the problem making a beautiful cutting board. I made a really nice one and the wife will not use it, just too pretty. That's a nice job on that one!

Thanks everybody. I'm thinking of doing another and filling the carves with Resin, but have never worked with it.

Very nice looking project. As to filling the carves, I've had good luck with a product known as Fimoclay (Hobby Lobby and Michaels). It's a clay based product that you work into the carves then bake in the oven at a low temp at app 30 min. {If memory serve, its around 230 degrees}. Once that is done, a quick sanding of the surface will result in the carves being filled and even with the surface. Takes a final finish well also. Many, many colors and so far it has held in the carves quite nicely.

    Again- very nice project!!

Thanks for the tip on Fimo clay. I googled it and it seems there are two competitors Fimo Clay and Sculpey. Anyone used both and have a recommendation? I did a cutting board with a tree of life on it recently and that sounds perfect to solve the problem of needing to turn it over and use the back because of the carving on the front.

    Thanks,

I've used them both. My personal preference is......................................whatever color is available and what is on sale!! Hobby Lobby is not open on Sundays - and I usually encounter a need for this late Saturday eve.
