Thread: Pattern specialist

  1. Default Pattern specialist

Is there someone smarter than me on patterns that can change this to a useable pattern.

I have a 50 year Marine reunion coming up and want to honor our Navy Corpsman who were so outstanding in Vietnam.

    Thanks so much guys.

Here is a version. Its my interpretation since I built it in 3d.

The caduceus symbol is not mine. It was a shared pattern on the forum and is online as a 3d model.

The graphic Dan loaded is really clean. Maybe one the of 2d wizards can play with it. The pattern results look different than when built as 3d models. Depending on the usage of the pattern it can be a better solution. Options are always good.

Since my daughter and son-in-law are hospital corpsmen, I thought this was a good pattern to have in my library.

For the pattern: optimization to best and draft to medium.

Being a retired Marine, I hold a very special place in my heart for Corpsmen - especially for those who carried the 8404 MOS. I owe my life to a friend I will always know as "Doc"! Sorry for getting off topic...

Dan, thanks. It was a fun build.

jrooth6577, thanks for being a Marine.

Have to share. Taking me down memory road.

Had a Marine Colonel boss when I was assigned to TAMPAstan. Learned a ton from him on how to be a better professional Airman. He was an artillery officer. The other Marine in the cell was a helicopter pilot. But you could see they were Marines who happened to fire artillery rounds and the other fly helicopters. They were Marines first.

A few years later, I'm coming back from Kabul and I'm sitting next to a young Marine. We started talking and it turns out he's been blown up a few times. The last time was once too many so he was being shipped back home. He was almost in tears with the anguish of leaving his fellow Marines still in harm's way. Kind of made a huge impact because I was just looking forward to going home. I was an embed in an Army brigade so didn't have the close ties but still got me thinking.

Last story, but I guess the first. My Air Force tech school was a combined school with Army and Marines. The Marines were out of boot camp. So they were 10 feet tall and bullet proof. Especially one of them. I was a cocky little sh*** myself. Words were exchanged and there was a ruckus. My friends pulled me off him and his friends pulled him off me. None of the instructors were called or told. I was at the base club that afternoon. That same young Marine came over and bought me a drink. So I did the same. No apologies but some laughter and a handshake and not another word was said.

Is there anyway you can email the ptn file to me at edsingletary@bellsouth.net

I am having a time with the TapaTalk on my computer. I can't get it downloaded.

I went to the forum at CW and I see it there but I try to download and I get a terrible run around with passwords and user name. I enter it, but I am told it is wrong, knowing all the time it is right. So I give up.

Don t know why they don't have the TapaTalk for the computer, only shows for phone. At any rate I can't get it from my phone to the computer.

Pulling out grey hair with this, thank you for all your help.

Sent your way. Ignore the first email. The send button and the attachment button are right next to each other and my hand eye coordination is not what it should be.

Hello, Cant figure out how to start a new thread but does anyone know how to improve the cut on center line V carved text? I am getting very frustrating frays that need sanded down. The bits are fairly sharp and using a white pine.

    Thanks

    Carper,

To post a new thread, go to the main "Forum" tab, select the category you want to post to, then hit post new thread.

What quality setting are you using when you upload to the card? Pine really need Best or Optimal if you would rather not sand as much.
