Suggestions needed for painting

I carved this sign out of MDF and sealed with BIN white paint sealer. I now need to paint the sign but am not good with deciding what colors to use. I have a friend coming out later today who is going to paint it but wanted to get some other ideas as well.

This is going to be my parents Christmas present once it is finished. I know, it will be a little late, but I have already sent them a picture of it. My friend has been out of state so I have not been able to get it painted until now.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated, As I am color blind, it make it all the harder for me to make these choices without making it look way wrong.

That came out really nice! As it will be all paint, I think you would want it to compliment your mom's color scheme. If she does earth tones and creams, you might not want bright white on the first names, that kind of thing.
