Default NOVEMBER 2017 Project of the Month - Holiday Angel Dish!

    Hello,

Here is a cute Holiday Angel dish for holding candies, nuts and other “goodies” during the festive season! Make one for your own home and/or make several to sell at craft shows or as gifts to friends and relatives! Leave the wood natural or add some paint - either way, it looks great!

The project uses just the 1/16" Carving Bit and the 1/8" Cutting Bit. No other bits are required.

The dimensions of the Angel Dish are about 9.3" wide x 11.6" tall x 1.5" thick

    Main items you will need:

    1) The Project Files (included):
    • Angel_BASE_Section.mpc
    • Angel_TOP_Section.mpc

    2) Boards with the following dimensions:
    Base: 0.75" x 11" x 20"
    Top: 0.75" x 11" x 20"

NOTE: Do not use boards that are smaller than specified above unless using an appropriate jig.

    3) Sandpaper, glue, stain and/or paint and clear finish

    4) A Dremel-type rotary tool with assorted abrasive attachments to aid the sanding process. A spindle sander and small belt sander can help speed up sanding/surface preparation even more.

Apply the finish of your choice. Here’s what I used on the sample Holiday Angel Dish made from Select Pine:
    • Applied one coat thinned Bulls Eye SealCoat (50/50 SealCoat and denatured alcohol)
    • Sanded when dry
    • Several light coats Krylon Clear Acrylic spray to seal
    • Sanded lightly when dry
    • Applied craft paint to wings, robe, hair, nose, cheeks
    • Several light coats Krylon Clear Acrylic overall
