    Default Lubricating Flex Shaft

I need to lubricate my flex shaft. Online instructions shows to use penetrating oil with graphite, and they sell it at Carvewright. I am hoping to purchase some locally to get up and running tomorrow. Does anyone have suggestions of what to buy and where to get it?

    Thanks for the help!

I had to go and look at that procedure to verify. It is actually a molly based lubricant and not graphite. The PDF should be updated. Since CarveWright is down and will probably be that way for a couple of weeks do to the flooding, you will need to find a different source.

I use Crane Cam lube with molly. It is a grease that is used in automotive pre assembly of engines. If you have a local auto shop that rebuilds you might be able to source it through them or you can order it on line. Some use a similar type lube and they might post it to help you out.

This is one of them... https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/v...se/633/4773297

Perfect. Thank you. I'll look locally and if not Amazon has the same item as your summitracing link.

It would be great if the local OReilly or Napa would have it!

    The MSDS says:

K-M 900 RS conveyor Chain Lubricant
    SDS - LSS-013
    Chemical Name Stoddard solvent CAS# 8052-41-3 70%
Petroleum Distillates, hydrotreated Heavy Paraffinic CAS# 647-54-7 30%

Graphite 7782-42-5 is listed in the exposure guidelines

    K-M Lubricants is the manufacturer

I can PDF this up if anyone is interested.

We have a tub of dry moly powder, and the tech folks at the conference said we can just add it to a solvent and use that.
