making a dome

I have V 3.1 and i am wanting to make a dome or mound,,,a round object that tapers from center of circle to a carve region. i can't describe what i want gooder. can i do that with machine i have?

Make a circle, under tools - select surface - double dome. Now change the depth and height. See how that works.
