How can I carve a pattern on an arc instead of a straight line? Any help is appreciated.

I don't understand what you are asking.

Use the "Pattern Along Trajectory" tool. It's part of the Pattern Modeling Suite (Advanced 3D) add-on

Or do you mean you want to carve a pattern on top of a dome surface?

Connie, thanks for the edit envelope recommendation. I did not know you could use the edit envelope that way. Super cool.
Toolman, I did a quick test on one of my patterns using edit envelope. It allows you to added additional vertices and snap to grid so you can shape the pattern as you need. I only have designer 2.xxx and don't have the advanced 3d add-on so can't talk to the pattern along trajectory. I am sure its a quicker, easier way to accomplish the same or similar.
Good luck on your project. Let us know how it comes out.

Thanks Connie for the advice. Being a novice however I'm not familiar with the "edit envelope". I too only have the designer 2.xxx, but in the edit tab I see no "edit envelope." Can you give me some advice about how to find and use the edit envelope. This sounds like it might work for me.
Toolman, for me the edit envelope is on the carving toolbar.
