Thread: could I get a little advice please

    Default could I get a little advice please

    looking to add a little clipart to a sign for my sister.
    I just want to cut it into the wood like a trace?????
    hope i'm saying this correctly. i just want to carve this image into the wood sign maybe using a 60 deg bit???

    i am using basic
    and centerline if that helps any

    could someone walk me through this

    If you only have the basic Designer, your only hope, I think is to make the image into a font. Then you can use centerline. BJB has posted instructions on doing this many times on the forum. Maybe he will chime in.

    On a design that is simple you can also create your own pattern using the basic drawing toolbar tools. You can do a lot with lines, ovals, and splines. Once you have the lines drawn you can assign "select bit" or "select depth profile" to get the profile you want. This was a quick test pattern. Took me about 10 minutes to make. If you take your time and select the right profile it will look good.

    Good luck. Designer basic is a good tool. It just takes a little bit more time and imagination to make it do what you want without the add-ons.

    If you are going with the carving bit, try also the depth profile tool.
