Around 2 1/2 years ago on a short trip I passed through Northeastern Arkansas and saw a Cypress Clock Shop. On my way back home I stopped at the very small store and visited with the owner. Found out he had blank cypress pieces he would sell and also sold some stumps for the base of tables. Sooo, I picked up a blank along with a stump. I have a very good friend that is about to retire and I made this table for him. I took my router and followed the contour of a ring in the blank, then filled it with red inlace with silver speckles. I had to peel off the bark using compressed air, knife, and anything else I could get into it. A lot of sanding followed up with natural danish oil. Then 3 coats of bar coat topping. Kinda cool & fun to work on. It's right at 3 feet across. Big piece of wood and I believe it was 4 inches thick.
