Thread: Anyone try carving PVC boards?

Default Anyone try carving PVC boards?

I need to make some smallish directional signs for a golf course. Something like "Next hole" and an arrow.

I was thinking that the PVC boards that you use for outdoor trim would hold up well to the weather. Anyone try it? Do they carve well?

It's that time of year that I can get back to spending some time with my machine and I had LHR give it an overhaul and upgrades so I'm ready!

Wouldn't carving PVC create a lot of static clean similar to cutting it? I would think cleaning all the white shavings up could be an issue. I have been thinking about trying to cut PVC but was a bit nervous about the static it may develop.

I've been carving a lot of things lately in Coretec flooring which is basically a PVC board. Carves great but does create a lot of shavings that cling to everything. Dust collection a must and after each carve I do a thorough cleanup. I wipe the pressure rollers as I slide a small vacuum nozzle along as it really clings to them.

I have made a few outdoor signs using pvc boards. I've only used centerline but they come out great. edge routing using a router works well too.

I too have cut PVC Board. Careful with the Vacuum Cleaner hose as static of the dust or PVC moving through the hose make Static that is known to KILL the Computer...

Cover the PVC Board with Reflective Vinyl and Centerline Text or even cut out the letters...

    Used Solar LED Xmas Lights...
