Thread: Y axis problem with cut motor

  1. Default Y axis problem with cut motor

I had a y axis stall error during a carve. I reset everything then noticed the cut motor running but bit not spinning. I just replaced flex cable a few weeks ago. When I pulled the flex cable out of chuck I noticed there was so much cable there that it had pulled out of motor. What stops the cable from going in chuck to far? What is happening here? Thanks.

The cable depth on my spare machine is the same as this one as far as the depth of the chuck end. The motor end stops solidly as well. Cannot push cable into motor past a certain point. Used old cable out of sheath to test.

Could the sheath have come unglued from the motor end?

I pulled the motor off the machine and inserted the flex cable into it. Seemed to go in one more click deeper. Pulling the motor gave me a better leverage. I think that the cable was simply not inserted enough into motor. Has been running carve ok now. Thanks for making me look at the motor end!
