How Do I Change ARC Angle?

Hi,
Trying to make an arc to join to straight lines at 45 degrees of each other, and trying to get a pleasing curve. Please help!

Select both lines by holding the control key down and click on each line. Both lines will have a red vertex at each end.
Select the arc tool from the circle pull down group on the toolbar or from the drawing menu.
Click on one of the red vertices at the end of one of the lines
As you pass the mouse over the other vertex, click on it when you see the "star".
Click and hold on the center green "handle" in the middle of the arc to adjust the degree of the arc
