I have to say Oscar, I love, love, love laminates. Did you re-carve the same piece or did you carve a new piece of wood on the Wrought iron bar cross? I have re-carved some pieces 4 times. The contrasts and blends of laminates pop like no other and you redid that beautifully.
Here is a double glue up I did for a hammock I wove.
I think I am equally amazed at your willingness to stretch the learning curve to build an unspeakably impressive modelling skillset. Thank you for exploring the possibilities and sharing the successes and failures with us all. I know I have learned much from hours-long forum reading sessions.
"...I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea-shore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me."

What a wonderful piece. Beautifully done.
For the wrought iron piece, I planed the old cross off and re-laminated a new piece with maple on the walnut. I realized there is a small learning curve and precision is important. That was hard for me. I use guesstimation quite a bit.
a buddy asked for fan art themed family crest. This is the draft I have so far. I don't follow the show so not sure if everything is right but I'll see what he thinks.
Carved 3 monkey king busts for my school team. Carved 8" x 6" in poplar and stained with golden oak.
Great carves and finish, Oscar!

Michael, thank you. Glad to see are still around.
Looks good. Great Job!
Nice clean work Oscar, good job.
Thanks all. I have spring break right now so doing some practice pieces. I am working on a pirate bust now. Have to fix his lip and add all the doodads. I'm liking it so far.
