    Default 1/2" Straight Cutting Bit

I've been watching some of the older videos for pocket cutting tips, and was seeing that you could use a 1/2" straight cutting bit with the connected lines tool as an option. But I don't see that the CarveWright site even has the 1/2" straight cutting bit as an option. Am I missing something?

Thanks for any and all words of wisdom

    Loretta,

I use a Whiteside brand purchased at Woodcraft but almost any 1/2" straight cutting router bit will work and it should have a 1/2" shank. You can use one with a 1/4" shank and a 1/2" collet but I wouldn't recommend it.

Most of the time I use the 1/8" or the 3/16" cutting bit. It takes a little longer to build the cut paths but has two advantages.

    1. There is less stress on the bit and chuck.
    2. The inside corners require less work to make them square.

I bought A 3/16 cutting bit from Home Depot, it works great but can only cut 1/2" lumber, has anyone used a 1/4" cutting bit? or been able to cut 3/4" lumber?
