    It appears to be a stone spray paint, maybe on MDF?

    Yes it looks like stone spray paint or the non-skid paint. Looks Great.

    Very good guys, your all correct on the answer.

    I like the effect, I am going to try some other effects with the different
    paints on the boxes.
