    Default A couple portrait projects

I thought I would share a couple portraits I did this week. From doing a few of these, I have found that I like the portraits when the grain of the wood goes from side to side rather than up and down. I find the details look better. Your thoughts?

Nice job, I think you are right about the grain!

Wow, those look great. Could you share carving bit size, and carving depth? Thanks

    Heather,
Both look great, I agree. And I agree with the side to side rather than the top to bottom...

    Thank you,
The carvings above were carved with the 1/16 carving bit. I have carved with the 1/32 also. I like to put the depth at .080 to .085 for plywood.
