    Default Re-started carve

I was not sure where to start this thread. (1) I wanted to commend LHR for the precision that this machine can do. (2) I wanted to show my latest re-carve. (3) I wanted to show the problem that required a re-carve.

Not sure what caused the belt to tear, but it looks like the slide-plate caught it somehow.

Caused an X-stall without hurting anything else.

I was creating a double-sided sign for a friend that I use to work with; the signs fit his attitude well!

The stall occurred soon after it started the letters "g" and "s" on the second side of the sign (separate mpcs). I restarted in the space before the letters using the tried-and-true method of creating an mpc with a zero depth region over the part that was okay. I was pleased that it indexed so well on the lettering.

As the belt wrinkled-up under the board, it raised it up into the bit.
I have two machines, one I intended to keep and one I planned to sell. After the stall, I switched to the newer machine.

I had cleaned out the encoder not long ago on my older machine, but after using both machines on the same board it looks like it is dirty again - note the difference in the backgrounds.

Thanks for sharing, we have had to do this several times also, not for the belt but usually for bearings or brushes. The last time I had lines like that was due to the z truck bearings needing tightened.

Thanks for your response. I'm scratching my head about the Z-axis bearings causing a depth problem, that would seem to allow Y and Z movement to the bit-end rather than a change in depth. Help me understand that please.

I think it allows the bit to push and pull at the tip slightly, causing lines in the carve.
