Thread: Cutting out 3D letters

    Default Cutting out 3D letters

I want to cut out 3D letters by using cut path. I want to be able to glue a 1/2" foam board on another 3/4" board and just cut out the foam. When I try, I get Fatal Error 2. I can raster cut them, but it's a really poor way to do it.

    Am I out of luck?

You can't use the cut out tool with a board mounted to a sled (or foam mounted to a board in your case). The extra thickness throws off the machine. You can however, click on the choose bit tool (looks like router bit) seletc the 1/8" bit and set your depth to your foam thickness.

tbroeski, I did a few letters a while back... however, I added a bevel to the top of the letters in Coreldraw, then imported them, did a Pattern outline and assigned a Cut Path to them.

They turned out pretty cool looking....

If you can't cut all the way through one side , flip the board and finish cutting through from the back.
