According to my machine whisperer brother, only 3 things:

    Inferior brush material
    Overloaded motor
Motor going bad (lots of arcing)

We have CW whisperers on here, so I am sure they will chime in

I showed him my brushes, he thinks they look like Dewalts.. he's gonna check for me

I was already leaning toward a motor, and honestly may just change it out, as I have spares. But inferior brush material??? That doesnt sound quite kosher...

1800... WOW.. Thanks for the pictures.... THIS is why I look for Cut Motors even if they have a cracked case... You can put a new "er" armature in a case like that after cleaning all the carbon out and you have a new motor.... not much to wear on the case and stator and brush holders if you maintain them.

I knew what you meant. I changed the brushes on the fly and I can hear myself talk in a normal voice, I am pretty sure the motor is shot...

A close up picture of the Armature would be nice... Might be a scratch in the copper or a damaged section making it into a "Planer"....

A brush with too soft a mixture of carbon would cause it.... but I can't believe it could slip into the CW Supply chain...

I agree, change the motor... but open the old one for pictures then send as a core to LHR and get another..

Also check the rear motor bearing.

Just goes to show that with the right care, our little "enthusiast" machines are pretty darn robust

Anyone have any idea when they will have cut motors in stock? Or rebuilds again? Need to order a Y belt so looking to bundle...
