I'm trying to get the background to stand up higher but can't seem to get it to work. When I raise the depth, the tree and the archway come higher but the rest of the pattern does not. You can see from the example and i attached the pattern. Thanks in advance!

Did you use a picture?? If yes just post it.

I think you just have to carve it deeper. Lower that rectangle.

your ptn wasn't set deep enough, the default is .25 depth I did the pattern that you had and made the depth and height different, I was upset and frustrated when when I first started the carvewright because every one was doing the carvings for me and I wasn't learning... you'll learn to speak Greek like the rest of us in no time..LOL
