a confluence of events. I was teaching myself 3d graphics right before buying my CW. I didn't realize I could do both until 6 months after getting the CW. I am terrible at making patterns any other way. When I try using 2d graphics to make patterns I usually end up with results similar in comparison to what you would think a caveman doing brain surgery would end up with.

The artistry and creativity of some of the folks on here is amazing.

Thanks Oscar, really appreciate. Some guy thinks if I carve this in wood he can use it as a stamp to put the design in metal (valve covers). I told him I didn't think it would work, but who knows.

Darren, I am agreeing with you but I am not a metal worker so maybe he knows something we don't. Good luck to him.

If he is casting the valve covers, it might make sense. The carving would be used as part of the plug to make an impression in the sand which would then be filled with molten aluminum.

Dan, had to go research the topic. Interesting. I've never worked metal but I wish I had the time to learn another hobby after seeing all the cool stuff you can do with aluminum castings.

Way way back in 2007 there was a guy who was doing aluminum castings with mold he made with the CW.

No not casting, he wants to stamp existing valve covers with it... and maybe a door panel. Nice idea, but don't think it would ever work unless the metal was really thin.
