    Perry! I still need to stop by and visit, days to weeks to months so on. The name plaques look amazing though. My lumber supplier doesn't keep alder on hand but pretty sure he could get some if i asked. Seems like cypress is the readily available lumber of choice in New Orleans.

    Stop by any time, I use cypress all the time on large outdoor projects. You have to watch the grain, if it has large areas
    in the grain , it can hide or distort details in the pattern. I use cypress on outdoor grottos if the pattern is of simple design
    and not a lot of detail. I used some cypress a fireman brought me and the grain was so strong, you lost the logo of the fire station, so I used some of the old cypress , tight grain, and it even had some water stains in the wood, it fit the logo.
