If your tracing the picture like you did, there's nothing to invert. It's when in import the image as a grayscale that you invert.

The invert before was because the pattern was supposed to stand out, not be a pocket. The easiest thing to do was to make it a pocket, make the pattern, and then invert it. The pistol for example. Make the pistol outline a carve region at 0.25. Make the finger hole a carve region at 0.00. Group and make a pattern. Now when you use the pattern, invert it.

The problem is when you do the pattern and do it in the 3.01 it doesn't convert back to the 1.87 not unless you start all over again, which is a real hassle. My wish list would be to make that easier.

Project created in 3 are not openable in 187, but pattern created in 3 are openable in 187. At least that is my experialce.

Clint, correct, MPC's (projects) created in 3.0 can not be opened in 1.187, PTN's (patterns) created in 3.0 CAN be opened in 1.187.
Using Designer 1.187, STL importer, Center line, conforming vectors, scanning probe/PE, and the ROCK chuck.
