Very interesting. It should not work and I guess it doesn't! I can make a .png though.

I have read all your discussion on this and have the experts determined it cannot be made into a pattern? All the patterns are blank for me also.

I think your problem is that you have not made it all into a group. The group there in you carving list is empty. Delete it. Select all and press the group button at the bottom of the list. Now right click on the name group. Make Pattern should be in the drop down menu.

I was able to, in a round about way, make the pattern. This one should not be empty. You should, however, be able to make your own pattern.

The patterns I have worked with in the past did not outline each piece when I selected Outline Pattern, it would only give me an outline of the pattern so I can cut the shape out. I was able to delete the current group and add it back and it did make a pattern but when I select Outline Pattern to allow me to cut the shape out it highlights all the parts of the pattern. However, I can delete each part that I do not need and leave the outside outline and then select Cut Path but this seems different that the way I have made patterns in the past.

Thank you for all your help.

We have been talking about different things here! Making patterns Vs outlining patterns. If you add a rectangle to your pattern and include it when you outline, you can get an outline around the whole thing.

Thanks for the thread, I learned something new here.

Do I make it a carve region or just a rectangle around the other pieces?

Yes, make the rectangle a carve region as well.
